Thomas M. Jones is a psychotherapist, author, and musician. For over 40 years he's used what he built — the Paradox Process — with a client list that includes CEOs, television journalists, Oscar, Emmy, and Tony Award winners, doctors, psychologists, and health coaches. But it wasn't built for them first.
Thomas had a rough childhood. In his words:
“I felt hard done by, my dad didn't love me, etcetera etcetera. It left me with a lot of upset that I frankly didn't know how to manage.”
That upset didn't stay in childhood. It showed up in his work and in every relationship where he needed to feel worth loving.
In 1973, working at an addiction services agency, he counseled kids who'd come through the court system — the ones everyone had already written off. He noticed what the intake forms missed: these kids weren't getting high to escape. They were getting high to feel like themselves again, with no one to teach them how to process the pain underneath.
He tried transactional analysis. He tried primal therapy. Both are respected modalities. Neither worked fast or deep enough to matter:
“None of them really took away the pain, none of them really gave you insightful information, none of them are fast enough or quick enough for the issues.”
So he and his collaborator, Roger Bell, stopped borrowing other people's frameworks and built their own — what Thomas calls “a laboratory for living.” Inside it, they found a kind of meditation you could actually direct: point it at a specific issue, and it goes to work on that issue, not just around it.
Meditation is a hard sell — most people won't stick with an unstructured practice long enough to get anywhere. So Thomas and Roger did the less glamorous work: they encoded what they'd discovered into specific, repeatable keys — verbal phrases and structured sequences that trigger the same subconscious shift, reliably, without years of sitting practice first.
That encoding is what makes the Paradox Process teachable. Once it was teachable, other therapists, coaches, and healers began asking Thomas to show them how to do it with their own clients. Enough people asked, enough times, that it became this certification — four levels, in the order you actually need to learn them.
